“One of Pittsburgh’s greatest treasures” says the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Chatham Baroque continues to excite local, national, and international audiences with dazzling technique and lively interpretations of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music played on instruments of the period. Founded in 1990, Chatham Baroque celebrates its twentieth season this year with a full calendar of concerts, tours, musical collaborations, and the CD release in December of vocal and instrumental works by the Italian composer Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger. The trio of baroque violin, viola da gamba, theorbo and baroque guitar tours nationally and internationally, has recorded seven CDs on the Dorian label and hosts a successful concert series in Pittsburgh.
The three regular members of Chatham Baroque will be joined by Stephen Shultz and Adam Pearl (pictured below) to create a sumptuous post-holiday program of baroque delights.
Chatham Baroque's concert centers on one of the great composers of the late Baroque period, Georg Philip Telemann. Often mentioned in the same breath as J.S. Bach and George Frederick Handel, Telemann was a contamporary and friend to both. Among Telemann's best chamber works are the so-called Paris Quartets, two of which will be presented along with music of Bach, Marais and others.

Grammy Award winning composer Christopher Tin selected for next Music Guild commission
Grammy Award winning composer Christopher Tin has been selected for the 2011-2012 Music Guild / L.A. County Arts Commission new music project. Following up on the success of Baba Yetu from his Grammy Award winning album, Calling All Dawns, Tin will compose a work exploring the intersection of African and Western musical influences - a blend of choral music in the Western tradition with African rhythms, melodic patterns and texts.
Tin's Music Guild commissioned work will receive its world premiere at the June 2012 concert and feature vocal soloists, members of The Chamber Orchestra and a percussion section to include South African instruments.
