“The 1812 Overture Concert” The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” with Col. Andrew J. Esch, Leader and Commander Dwayne Milburn (U.S. Army, retired) personally has arranged a spectacular show that will include Colonel Esch, who will introduce a program featuring The U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, the Army Chorus, the Army Blues, Downrange, and the Army Voices. Saving the best for last, the program concludes with the finale of Tchaikovsky’s “1812” with the Presidential Salute Battery of the 3rd United States Infantry (The Old Guard) guns ablaze! Col. Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto with pianist Inna Faliks, conductor Neal Stulberg, and the UCLA Symphony Orchestra Inna Faliks, Chair of the Piano Department at UCLA, opened our 2018-2019 season and we look forward to hosting her at a live concert in a future season. For our November Zoom concert, she and conductor Neal Stulberg offer commentary and insights into Beethoven and his remarkable piano concertos. Holiday Music from around the World with Choral Arts Initiative Consultant Jo-Michael Scheibe, USC Thornton School of Music Join us as we hopscotch around the globe, celebrating music for Advent and Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza. Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe will offer insights into traditions surrounding some of the most beloved music here in America and enlighten us with holiday videos from celebrations of diverse traditions in far-away lands and cultures. Michael will be with us for a post-concert reception and Q & A session. |
