ST. MATTHEW’S MUSIC GUILD
Community CONCERTS
The Music Guild’s Mission Statement contains a strong commitment to providing concerts in the larger community. Our goal is to make live, professionally performed concerts available to persons throughout the Los Angeles area, regardless of a person’s resources or ability to travel.
The Music Guild presented more than thirty live community concerts during 2023-2024 season and we are planning even more in future seasons. Performance venues include several centers operated by LA Family Housing throughout the San Fernando Valley. We have been particularly touched by the reception we have received at The Arroyo, a shelter and center for women only (where we sponsor performances by women-only ensembles). We also perform regularly at Neighborhood Youth Association, Bread and Roses Café in Venice, and Sunrise Senior Living.
We present keyboardists, vocalists, and guitarists; woodwind and brass ensembles; mariachi bands, and jazz ensembles. Performances include music from the classical and pop repertoire, jazz, Broadway, and traditional music from around the globe. Many members of The Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s participate in the Music Guild’s community outreach concerts. Other featured performers include the Mariachi Divas, Adelaide Pilar, Angelo Salazar, Lorenzo Sanchez and Spencer Artwick.
