May 29, 2026 @ 8:00 pm

YuEun-Gemma-Kim

Concertmaster YuEun Gemma Kim steps front and center for Antonin Dvořák’s lush Violin Concerto in A minor.

Our season finale features music guaranteed to lift your spirits. The concert opens with Maurice Ravel’s orchestration of Claude Debussy’s lighthearted “Danse” (“Tarantella Styrienne”) and continues with the world premiere of the Music Guild’s latest commissioned work – “Raíces” (“Roots”) by Los Angeles-based composer, María Eugenia León. Highlighting the musical traditions of both her native Canary Islands as well as Spain, “Raíces” features the timple, a five-string guitar described as “the pinnacle of Canarian music.” The evening concludes with Dvořák’s virtuosic Violin Concerto in A minor, featuring YuEun Gemma Kim.
Underwritten by a generous gift from the Estate of Mary Calfas Janos.

  • Our casual pre-concert feature, “Liner notes,” offers conversation with the evening’s artists and insights into the music and composers. “Liner notes” begins at 7:10pm in the church and is free to all ticket holders.
  • All concerts take place at St. Matthew’s Church in Pacific Palisades.
  • Read our COVID policy.
  • Late-comers will be seated at the discretion of the ushers between compositions.
