The Gesualdo Six presents “Queen of Hearts”

The award-winning ensemble, featuring six of Britain’s finest consort singers, presents “Queen of Hearts,” a program of motets and chansons from the courts of Anne of Brittany, Margaret of Austria, Anne Boleyn and Mary Tudor spiced with short works from the present day. Gramophone Magazine described a recent performance as “Ingeniously programmed and impeccably delivered, with that undefinable excitement that comes from a group of musicians working absolutely as one.” “Queen of Hearts” is a musical Who’s Who of great European queens as portrayed in music of the sixteenth and twenty-first centuries.
- Our casual pre-concert feature, “Liner notes,” offers conversation with members of the Gesualdo Six and insights into the music and composers. “Liner notes” begins at 7:10pm in the church and is free to all ticket holders.
